NASHVILLE — Tennessee State volleyball returns to the road Wednesday when the Tigers travel to Clarksville to face Austin Peay at 6 p.m. inside the Winfield Dunn Center.

The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live statistics available through LetsGoPeay.com.

Tennessee State (0-9) enters the midweek contest after playing Evansville twice last week, including a four-set road match Saturday. Austin Peay enters with a 5-5 record after finishing 1-2 at the Xavier Tournament.

Jackson Earns OVC Weekly Honor

Freshman setter Triniti Jackson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday following a strong three-match stretch.

Jackson totaled 81 assists, 25 digs, 10 kills and seven blocks over 11 sets against North Alabama and Evansville. She averaged 7.36 assists and 2.27 digs per set while hitting .333 with one attacking error on 27 attempts.

The Longview, Texas, native recorded the first double-double of her collegiate career Thursday against Evansville, finishing with career highs of 36 assists and 13 digs. She also added seven kills on 16 error-free attacks for a .438 hitting percentage and contributed two blocks.

Jackson followed with 29 assists, four digs, two kills, two blocks and a service ace in Saturday's road rematch. The honor marked the first OVC weekly award of her career and Tennessee State's first of the season.

Last Time Out

Tennessee State captured the second set before falling to Evansville in four sets Saturday at the Carson Center.

Wiktoria Jakubik led the Tigers with 12 kills on 25 attacks, hitting .280 while adding two block assists. Gabrielle Washington finished with nine kills and two errors on 16 swings for a .438 hitting percentage. She also recorded four blocks and a service ace.

Sydney Robinson added eight kills, while Jackson directed the offense with 29 assists. Jordan Imperial led TSU from the service line with a match-high four aces.

After dropping the opening set, the Tigers responded by hitting .375 in the second. The frame featured 11 ties and six lead changes before TSU earned a 25-22 victory to even the match.

Scouting Austin Peay

Austin Peay went 1-2 at the Xavier Tournament over the weekend, falling to Bowling Green and Xavier before closing the event with a five-set victory over Saint Louis.

The Governors opened the season by going 2-1 at the Stacheville Challenge and 2-1 at the Golden Eagle Invitational. Their five victories include three-set sweeps of UT Martin, Kansas City and Tennessee State.

Nicole Okojie led Austin Peay with 10 kills and seven blocks in its four-set loss to Bowling Green on Friday. Reagan Anderson recorded 16 digs, while Brooklynn Merrell paced the Governors with 17 assists.

Austin Peay uses multiple setters, with Merrell and Sarah Butler directing the offense. Okojie and Malena Benz provide a strong presence at the net, while Anderson anchors the back row.

Series History

Wednesday will mark the second meeting between Tennessee State and Austin Peay this season.

The teams met Sept. 4 at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Cookeville, with Austin Peay earning a 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 victory. The Governors finished with 37 kills, 10 service aces and eight blocks, while TSU recorded 25 kills and six blocks.

Austin Peay leads the all-time series 21-5 and has won the past 12 meetings. Tennessee State's most recent victory in the series came in 2015, when the Tigers earned a five-set road win in Clarksville.

Tennessee State will travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to face Alabama A&M on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. The match will close the Tigers' nonconference schedule before they open Ohio Valley Conference play Oct. 2 against Western Illinois at Kean Hall.
