Cory Harkey comes to Tennessee State to coach the tight ends after two years at Azusa Pacific University where he held the same position.

Harkey also served as special team’s coordinator for the Cougars. While at APU, Harkey helped develop Lucas Widmer into a First Team All-GNAC selection and a Third Team All-Region honoree. Widmer averaged 10.9 yards per reception and was a key piece to the offense as a blocker.

Harkey was also selected for the Bill Walsh Internship twice in 2019. His first appointment came with the Green Bay Packers in May of 2019, followed by an internship with the Los Angeles Rams in June of the same year.

As a player, Harkey played four seasons as a tight end at UCLA, closing out his career with 26 consecutive starts. Harkey finished with 28 receptions for 231 yards and two touchdowns.

After college, Harkey spent five seasons with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams after signing as an undrafted free agent. During his time with the Rams, he played in 64 games and caught 27 passes, including three touchdowns.

Harkey graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from UCLA in 2012. Harkey’s father, Mike, played for eight seasons in the Major Leagues and is currently a bullpen coach for the New York Yankees.
