Mark Hutson

Mark Hutson has been named offensive line coach after spending two seasons as the senior offensive analyst with LSU. The 30-year coaching veteran was on staff for the Tigers’ 2019 SEC and National Championship.
 
Prior to LSU, Hutson spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns. As an assistant offensive line coach, Hutson worked with Pro-Bowl selections Joel Bitonio and Joe Thomas.
 
Hutson is familiar with the Ohio Valley Conference, spending four seasons at Murray State from 1993-96 and making two stops at Eastern Illinois. During his time in the OVC, Hutson has been a part of four conference championship teams and five NCAA playoff appearances.
 
In his second stint with the Panthers, Hutson spent the 2015 campaign as the associate head coach, handling the offensive line. EIU finished 7-1 in the OVC and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.
 
Hutson first arrived at Eastern Illinois in 2003, serving three seasons as offensive coordinator and the final year as interim head coach. In 2006, Hutson guided the Panthers to a co-OVC championship and a No. 15 national ranking in the final poll. He was credited with a career coaching record of 8-5, 7-1 in the OVC. As the offensive line coach, Hutson's corps earned nine All-OVC honors and an All-American selection.

Between his two appointments at EIU, Hutson worked five years at Tulane University before moving to the National Football League where he served as the tight ends coach for the Oakland Raiders from 2012 until 2014.
 
While at Tulane, Hutson’s offensive line paced the way for tailback Matt Forte, who rushed for a school-record 2,127 yards and the seventh-best rushing performance in NCAA history. During his time with the Wave, Hutson helped three of his linemen to opportunities in the NFL. In his final season at Tulane, he was elevated to interim head coach to finish out the 2011 campaign. 

From 2000-02, Hutson served as the offensive line coach and student-athlete academic liaison at The University of Tulsa. During his time with the Golden Hurricane, he helped coach lineman Kevin Shaffer into the NFL ranks. Hutson entered the coaching profession as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma in 1990. After two seasons with the Sooners, he spent the 1992 season as a graduate assistant at Arkansas.
 
Hutson arrived at Murray State in 1993, serving as the tight ends coach and special team's coordinator. Murray State won back-to-back OVC championships in 1995 and 1996 with a combined 22-3 record.

Hutson left MSU for Boise State where he spent one year as the special teams and tight ends coach before returning to Arkansas for two seasons. With the Razorback, he coached tight ends and special teams winning the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Coach of the Year Award. Arkansas made appearances in the 1998 Citrus Bowl and 1999 Cotton Bowl while Hutson was on the staff.

Hutson was a two-time All-America lineman at Oklahoma (1986-87) and was a member of the Sooners' 1985 National Championship team. He was named to the Oklahoma All-Century Team and one of the Top 100 players in OU history. Hutson was a three-time All-Big Eight selection and capped his career with an appearance in the 1988 Hula Bowl All-Star game in Hawaii. He was a third round draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys in 1988.

Hutson earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Oklahoma in 1989.
