Orlando Mitjans, Jr.

In 2009, Orlando Mitjans, Jr. reunited with TSU football after serving as defensive coordinator for the Tigers in 2005.

Mitjans has more than 20 years of coaching experience with stints as secondary coach at Northeastern University (1983-1984), Cheyney University (1992-1994), Kent State (1994), C.W. Post College (1996), Morgan State (1998-1999), Towson (2002-2005), and Eastern Kentucky (2006-2008).

Mitjans has been part of several highly noted professional developmental coaching internships. He was part of the NFL Minority Internship Program as a secondary coach working with the Kansas City Chiefs (2001), St. Louis Rams (1999-2000), and the New York Jets (1994). In 2006, he was invited to the NCAA Expert Coaching Academy.

Mitjans is a member of the American Football Coaches Association and the Black Coaches Association. He holds a B.S. in Leadership from Northeastern University where he played collegiately as a free safety.
