Rickey Galvin joins the Tennessee State football staff as the wide receivers coach for the 2024 season. 

He brings extensive coaching experience across college, junior college, and high school levels.

Galvin spent the 2023 season as an assistant coach for quality control at Eastern Washington. Prior to that, Galvin was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Division II Adams State University for two seasons. Before that, he coached wide receivers at Contra Costa College in California and Lincoln University (Calif.). Additionally, he has served as the running backs coach at Foster High School (Wash.), assistant running backs coach at Contra Costa, and the receivers and running backs coach at McClymonds High School.

Galvin played four seasons at Washington State, where he recorded eight receiving touchdowns on 113 catches for 1,021 total yards. He started his career with the Cougars as a running back, securing 604 yards on 116 carries. He also contributed on special teams with 28 kick/punt returns for 618 yards and eight tackles. 

After college, Galvin played professionally for the Cedar Rapids River Kings in indoor football and participated in offseason/training camps with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League.

Galvin holds a degree in humanities from Washington State and a master’s degree in sport leadership from Adams State.
