Scott Holsopple joined the Tennessee State staff in May of 2021 as the Director of Sports Performance after holding a similar position at the University of New Mexico.
 
Holsopple spent two seasons at UNM and served as the head strength coach for the Lobo Football team.
 
The 22-year veteran has made multiple stops on his way to TSU. Over his career, Holsopple has coached numerous athletes, including Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, Mike Pouncey, Maurice Pouncey, Jake Heaps, Dwyane Wade, Joe Crawford and Jody Meeks.
 
Prior to UNM, Holsopple spent four seasons with Georgia State as the head strength coach, helping the Panthers prepare to compete in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.  Previously, Holsopple served as the director of football strength and conditioning at Kansas.
 
Holsopple spent the 2007-2011 seasons with the Florida Gators as the top assistant under highly respected Mickey Marotti.  While with the Gators, Holsopple was a part of the 2008 BCS National Champions and back-to-back 13-1 teams.
 
Before his time with Florida, Holsopple spent one year with the men’s basketball program at Kentucky and six years with the men’s basketball program at Marquette. With Marquette he worked with Dwyane Wade as the Golden Eagles made it to the 2003 Final Four.
 
His first collegiate job was as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Penn State, his alma mater, where he helped develop and implement a comprehensive, year-round strength, conditioning and agility program for the school’s 28 athletic teams.  He began his career as an intern at Notre Dame under Marotti. He also served as the strength and conditioning coordinator at Ken Chertow’s Olympian Wrestling Camp.
 
Holsopple earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Penn State in 2000. He earned All-America honors as a boxer while at Penn State.
