Tennessee State University

Eric Owens was named Associate Head Athletic Trainer for Tennessee State University June of 2020.

Prior to arriving at TSU, Owens has worked as a certified athletic trainer for 19 years at local Nashville high schools as well as for the baseball and volleyball teams at Lipscomb University. 

Owens has served as the Chair for Secondary Schools Athletic Trainers Committee with the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society and is was the committee’s representative to the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association.

A retired Hospital Corpsman with the United States Marine Corps, Owens retired from the United States Navy Reserves in 2009, when he also earned his Master of Education from Lipscomb University. He grduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Middle Tennessee State in 1999. 

Owens has been married to his wife Gina for 27 years and they have two children, Brittany and Connor.
