Ashley Bruner brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the team. A native of Norman, Oklahoma, she starred as a forward for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2009–2013 under Hall of Fame coach Dawn Staley. She made 128 appearances over her collegiate career, and as a senior averaged 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds, earning All-SEC Second Team honors.

After graduating, Ashley embarked on an accomplished professional career overseas, spending eight years competing in top leagues in Ecuador, France, Italy, Portugal, Puerto Rico, and Spain. During that time, she earned distinctions including Portuguese League Champion & Player of the Year, EuroCup Player of the Year, and Forward of the Year. 

Transitioning to coaching after her playing days, Ashley began her coaching career at Tuskegee University. She later joined the University of North Carolina Wilmington as Director of Operations for the women’s basketball program, overseeing logistics and contributing to player development.  In August 2024, she was promoted to associate head coach at Langston University, where she continued to build her coaching resume prior to her current role.  Most recently, she joined Tennessee State as an assistant coach, bringing her global perspective and high-level experience to the Lady Tigers. 

Ashley’s journey is defined by a deep passion for basketball, a commitment to player growth, and a track record of leadership on and off the court. She is dedicated to cultivating competitive spirit, resilience, and teamwork among her athletes.
