Parrish McGrath

Parrish McGrath has been a fixture within Tennessee State University athletics since joining the Tigers as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s golf programs in 2011. He was elevated to interim head coach in December 2012 and has since guided the program’s continued growth and competitive development.

During his tenure at Tennessee State, McGrath has overseen significant milestones for the golf program, including producing the program’s first-ever individual tournament champion during the 2025–26 season — a historic achievement highlighting the steady progression of TSU golf under his leadership.

McGrath brings extensive professional golf and instructional experience spanning more than three decades. From 2001–03, he served as head professional at Caloosa Golf and Country Club in Sun City Center, Florida, where he managed all pro shop operations, inventory control, club fitting, staff supervision, instructional programming, and tee-time management while assisting with membership initiatives and promotional events.

Prior to Caloosa, McGrath spent five years at Summerfield Golf Club in Riverview, Florida, advancing from assistant professional to head professional. During his time there, he led individual instruction, group lessons, and junior development clinics. In 2000, he was named Tournament Director, overseeing tournament sales, operations, course setup, and budgeting, while also serving as General Manager and Director of Golf.

McGrath’s professional career also includes time at Harpeth Hills Golf Course in Nashville from 1992–96. He earned PGA professional status in 1993 and qualified for the PGA Tour’s FedEx St. Jude Classic in 1994. Beyond competition and instruction, McGrath has contributed to community outreach by providing certification training for Tennessee Special Olympics golf program volunteers.

A Nashville native, McGrath earned both his bachelor’s degree (2019) and master’s degree (2021) from Tennessee State University. He and his wife, Kelli, have one daughter, Maddie.
