Sulman Raza was hired as an assistant golf coach prior to the 2023 spring season.
Raza comes to TSU after playing profession golf. Raza turned professional in the summer of 2018 with his sights set on gaining PGA Latinoamerica Tour status in 2019. Since becoming a professional golfer, Sulman has already tasted success.
He placed 1st at the Monday qualifier for the Barracuda Championship. This entry allowed him to participate in the Barracuda Championship as his first official PGA TOUR event, finishing T37. Sulman also gained valuable experience competing in the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York. He closed out the year with an impressive T2 finish at the All Pro Tour Sweetwater Open.
Before his professional career commenced, Sulman played collegiate golf at the University of Oregon. During his time on the team, he played an instrumental role in advancing the team to the NCAA Championship for three years. In fact, Sulman won the deciding match by making the winning putt in match play versus Texas to capture the NCAA Championship or Oregon in 2016.
Sulman has an international flare, unlike most other athletes. Born in Lithuania, Sulman was adopted when he was just a few months old. He grew up in the United States with his Pakistan-born adopted father and American-adopted mother. This colorful background gave Sulman a great appreciation for various cultures and traveling. To date, Sulman has visited over a dozen countries around the world and is fluent in French.
