Krystal Bonner serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing at Tennessee State University, where she leads strategic marketing initiatives designed to elevate brand visibility, enhance fan engagement, and strengthen the overall game-day and digital experience for TSU Athletics.
Bonner joined the department in November 2022 as Executive Director of Culture, Promotions, and Brand Strategy, overseeing comprehensive marketing campaigns that highlight the unique intersection of Division I athletics and HBCU culture. Her work focuses on expanding audience reach, strengthening community connection, and delivering innovative storytelling that reflects the energy and tradition of TSU Athletics.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bonner is a proud TSU alumna who earned dual bachelor’s degrees — a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing — from Tennessee State University in 2003.
With more than 20 years of professional experience, Bonner is recognized as a pioneering industry leader and multi-industry marketer specializing in events, brand management, and customer experience strategy. Throughout her career, she has cultivated partnerships with advertisers, brands, and influencers while leveraging digital, social, and traditional media platforms to create revenue-generating brand experiences that drive engagement and long-term loyalty.
Inspired by creativity, cultural storytelling, and meaningful experiences, Bonner is motivated by innovative design and historic culture. Outside of athletics, she enjoys discovering new and classic films, exploring emerging restaurants, traveling to new destinations, and spending quality time with family and close friends.
