Mariah Chandler joined the Tennessee State University women’s basketball staff in October, bringing more than eight years of experience across collegiate, professional, and international basketball. A former Division I student-athlete and national champion at Baylor University, Chandler is known as a detailed, driven, and player-centered coach with a proven record of developing talent and enhancing program operations.

Before arriving at Tennessee State, Chandler served as the lead assistant coach at the University of Windsor, where she directed player development and opponent scouting while managing key program operations, including travel, scheduling, fundraising, and academic support. She also served as a faculty liaison for the Black Student-Athletes Association and earned the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award for her leadership within the athletic department.

Chandler’s professional background includes several seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies organization. She worked as both an assistant coach and advance scout for the Memphis Hustle (NBA G League) and as a video assistant for the Grizzlies’ front office. In those roles, she analyzed opponent tendencies, prepared scouting reports, and supported player development initiatives in collaboration with the general manager and head coach.

Her coaching journey also includes operational and developmental roles at the University of California, Berkeley, and North Greenville University, along with grassroots and international experience working with youth and professional programs abroad. Chandler has been recognized as a Jr. NBA Coach of the Year finalist and an Assistant Coach of the Year nominee, underscoring her continued impact on player growth and program success.

A native of Georgia, Chandler earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Digital Media from Baylor University, where she was part of the 2012 NCAA National Championship and Big 12 Tournament Championship teams. She later earned a Master of Business Administration from North Greenville University.
