TSU Tigers Show New Look in Win Over Fisk
The Tennessee State Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked
back as they overwhelmed inter-city rival Fisk 101-69 at Gentry Center
in Nashville.
The Tigers got double-digit scoring from 6-0 freshman guard Gerald Robinson, Jr. (23 pts), 6-9 junior Jerrell Houston (14 pts), 7-0 sophomore center James Craft (14 pts) and 6-8 freshman forward Stephen Evans (10 pts). Houston also added eleven rebounds to pick up a double-double on the night.
TSU used a trapping defense to build a 40-25 lead at halftime and showed a variety of high-flying dunks over the shorter Division III Bulldogs from Fisk. Veteran guards Bruce Price and Reiley dished out six assists each while Craft and Houston recorded 3 and 2 blocks, respectively.
The Tigers hot 55.6% from the floor (48-81) and 40% from beyond the 3-point arc (6-15). TSU's defense held Fisk to 40.6% shooting from the floor and just 33.3% from beyond the arc.
Tennessee State will play Carson-Newman University in another exhibition game in Nashville on Wednesday night (11/07). Tip-off is set for 7:30p at the Gentry Center.
