Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigers' five-game win streak ended after a 65-58 loss to Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday night at the Murphy Center.

TSU (6-7) shot 39 percent from the floor with their competition underneath the rim playing a major factor in the loss. The Tigers were outrebounded, 40-26, with guards Patrick Miller, Jacquan Nobles and Wil Peters tying a team-high in rebounds with four apiece.

The points in the paint favored MTSU, 30-12, along with second chance opportunities, doubling TSU's effort, 18-9.

Miller led the Tigers tying a career-high, 16 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. Nobles added 12 points hitting 3-of-9 from three-point range. Peters recorded a career-high, nine assists, to lead the game, while finishing with nine points.

TSU fell behind early, 11-3, before tying the game up at 15 with 6:01 remaining in the first half. TSU then fell behind from the Blue Raiders' 12-6 run to trail, 27-21, at the break.

In the second, the Tigers were down by the largest deficit of the night, 43-32, midway through the half. TSU cut the lead, 58-54, with 1:14 remaining, but MTSU was able to hold off the Tigers with a 7-4 edge to close out the game.

MTSU (5-8) shot 52 percent in the second half after hitting 38 percent in the first. Overall, MTSU shot 45 percent behind Jason Jones' career highs in points, rebounds and field goals. Jones led all scorers shooting 10-of-15 for 23 points and hauled in a game-high, nine rebounds.

James Gallman added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from behind the arc to help MTSU snap a four-game skid.

The Tigers will bring in 2011 when they travel to play Memphis on Jan. 2 at the FedEx Forum. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
