NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tennessee State volleyball dropped 3-0 to Southeast Missouri Friday, Oct. 25 in Kean Hall. The Redhawks came out strong and the Tigers fought back but SEMO won 25-13, 25-17, 25-18.
During the first and second set TSU recorded 19 kills which was led by Julia Pierson with eight kills, she led the team with 12 for the match and also recorded 10 digs. Big Blue stayed motivated through the last set keeping the score close with 16 kills. Gina Rivera-Ortiz, Michahlea Njie and Jasmine Fuqua recorded eight digs a piece during the match. TSU was defensively stronger recording eight blocks compared to SEMO's two.

SET ONE
- Tennessee State scored the first point but SEMO came back with a run of three points.
- The Redhawks kept the lead with kills from Maggie Adams and Mikayla Kuhlmann.
- Julia Pierson stopped Southeast's run with a shot into it's defense.
- Khalia Jordan tried to keep the Tigers in the set with her first kill of the match.
- On a four-point run TSU had two kills, a service ace and a block.
- But a kill from Ally Dion for SEMO won the set, 25-13.
SET TWO
- Southeast Missouri went on a four-point run which was stopped by Pierson's fourth kill of the match.
- A kill from Aria Holmes, a block assist for Pierson and Holmes and two attack errors on SEMO kept Big Blue in the set.
- The Redhawks pulled ahead with kills from Laney Malloy and Krista Berns.
- Amiyah King with a kill kept TSU in the set but SEMO halted the Tigers with a kill.
- Two attack errors on Tennessee State kept the Redhawks in the lead.
- Aniya Williams with her fourth kill kept the Tigers fighting.
- A kill from Claire Ochs won the set for SEMO, 25-17.
SET THREE
- Southeast Missouri started out first on the board but TSU took the lead with kills from Jasmine Fuqua and Williams.
- An attack error and service error on the Redhawks allowed Tennessee State back into the set.
- Pierson notched another kill for Big Blue.
- The gap closed with Fuqua's third kill of the match.
- SEMO pulled ahead to a four-point lead with a kill from Annie Wehrheim.
- Williams added another kill but SEMO kept the lead despite the Tigers persistance.
- Malloy won the set with her 15th kil of the match, 25-18.
MATCH NOTES
- TSU is now 9-13 overall and 2-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
- Against Southeast Missouri the Tigers are now 5-45.
