NASHVILLE ---Â In a competitive and hard-fought game that wasn't indicative of the final score, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team fell to Eastern Illinois, 73-55, Saturday afternoon in the Gentry Center.Â
In what was, TSU's best start to a game of the season the Lady Tigers saw the game slip away in the fourth quarter. The game featured six ties and six lead changes but the Lady Tigers were outscored 25-10 in the final period.Â

Breannah McCullah had six assists in the contest.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In what was easily the best start of the season for Tennessee State, the Lady Tigers grabbed a 5-2 lead on five straight points from Taylor Roberts.Â
- EIU answered with a couple buckets to regain the lead but TSU remained solid and went ahead 13-10.Â
- The teams went back-and-forth over the next several possessions.Â
- The Lady Tigers led 19-17 at the end of the first quarter.Â
- In the second quarter, TSU's slight lead disappeared after turnovers and quick buckets from the opponent led to EIU going up, 23-19.Â
- TSU used a timeout to regroup and out of the break Andreana Wrister nailed a three-pointer to end a two-minute scoring drought.Â
- On the next trip down the floor, Wrister scored again to put TSU back on top, 24-23.Â
- With less than two minutes left in the half, TSU was trailing 27-25 when EIU made a three-pointer to increase the lead to, 30-25.
- At the break, TSU trailed 33-28.
- TSU cut the deficit down to three points on a lay-up by Andreana Wrister but EIU answered on the next play to regain a five–point cushion.
- The Lady Tigers fell behind by six but wouldn't go away.Â
- A three-pointer by Andreana Wrister sparked a spurt that pulled TSU even, 38-38, with about five minutes remaining in the third.Â
- The Panthers managed to build the lead back up to six but the Lady Tigers stayed the course.Â
- Jaden Wrightsell scored in the paint before McCullah sank a three-pointer to pull TSU to within one.Â
- Heading into the final 10 minutes, EIU had a 48-45 advantage.Â
- In the fourth stanza, TSU was forced to use a timeout after EIU used a 7-0 run to go ahead, 55-47.Â
- The TSU offensive struggles continued and the Lady Tigers fell behind by double-digits.Â
- By the 3:17 mark, TSU had only scored four points meanwhile EIU extended the advantage to, 64-49.
- The home team could not make the comeback.
