Murray, Ky. ---Â The Tennessee State University women's basketball team fell to Murray State, 77-58, Thursday night in the CFSB Center.
TSU got off to a slow start and struggled offensively for most of the night. The struggles saw the Lady Tigers fall behind by double-digits in the first quarter and TSU played from behind the rest of the game.Â
Tennessee State used a spurt to cut the deficit down to six points in the first half but that would be as close as the team could get. Â
Andreana Wrister led TSU with 15 points in the contest.
London Fairs scored a season-high 12 points while
Breannah McCullah registered a career-high 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Jaden Wrightsell also scored in double-digits with 11 points.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- TSU scored the first two points of the game but went without a bucket for the next four and a half minutes.Â
- During TSU's scoring drought, MSU posted 10 unanswered points to take a 10-2 lead at the first media timeout.Â
- Jaden Wrightsell connected in the paint to end the drought but the Racers answered to increase the advantage to 12 points.Â
- TSU's offensive struggles continued and after only going 2-of-14 from the field in the opening quarter, the Lady Tigers trailed, 16-4, after ten minutes.Â
- TSU fell behind, 18-4, in the opening moments of the second period.Â
- The Lady Tigers slowly started putting together a few successful possessions and outscored the Racers, 8-2, to cut the deficit down to, 20-12.Â
- TSU pulled to within six on its next trip down the floor behind a bucket from Taylor Roberts.Â
- Four straight points from Murray State, however, put the opponent back up by double-digits.Â
- MSU closed the quarter with a 7-2 run to carry a 31-16 lead into the halftime break.
- In the third stanza, the Racers stretched the lead to 39-19 with nearly five minutes ticked off the clock.Â
- Heading into the final ten minutes of action, TSU was down 60-34.
- The Lady Tigers scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to chop the Racer lead down to, 60-40.Â
- Back-to-back triples from Andreana Wrister pulled TSU to within 19 with less than four minutes on the clock.Â
- The deficit, however, proved too much to overcome.Â
