NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team suffered an 80-39 loss to UT Martin Thursday night in the Gentry Center. 
TSU got off to a slow start and fell behind early. The home team trailed 26-11 after the first 10 minutes of action and could not dig itself out of the hole. 
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Andreana Wrister's 10 points while Jasmine Broner pulled down a team best seven rebounds. Wrister finished the game with a team-best three assists 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TSU had trouble containing the UT Martin offense early on and fell behind 19-3 with just over three minutes left in the quarter.
  • The Lady Tiger managed to string together a couple of buckets and pulled within 10 on a layup by Andreana Wrister.
  • The visitors swelled the advantage to 20 points before London Fairs hit a three-pointer to make the score, 35-18. 
  • Heading into halftime, TSU trailed UTM 40-18.
  • The Skyhawks started the third period with five unanswered points which led to a Lady Tiger timeout. 
  • The scoring onslaught continued, however, and UTM used a 12-0 run to open the lead to, 52-18. 
  • Jaden Wrightsell stopped the bleeding with a bucket in the paint to give TSU its first points of the quarter. 
  • The score was, 63-25, in favor of UT Martin at the end of the third and the Skyhawks maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
GAME NOTES
  • Andreana Wrister scored in double-digits for the sixth consecutive game. 
  • TSU has dropped five consecutive games to UT Martin.

  • TSU continues its homestand with a matchup against Southeast Missouri on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Gentry Center.
