NASHVILLE --- In an early Saturday contest, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team dropped a, 64-45, decision to Southeast Missouri in the Gentry Center.
After falling behind by double-digits in the first half, TSU nearly matched SEMO point-for-point in the second period (35-30) but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. In the second half, TSU shot an impressive 42.3 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line. TSU also outrebounded SEMO 18-16 in the final 20 minutes.
Taylor Roberts and Andreana Wrister led the Lady Tigers with 13 points each while Jaden Wrightsell had 12 points and eight rebounds.
TSU shot 30.9 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line.

- TSU went 17-of-55 from the field (30.9 percent) from the field and 8-of-11 from the charity stripe (72.7 percent).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a defensive stalemate as the score was only 4-4 at the first media timeout.
- Out of the break, TSU forced a steal and Taylor Roberts connected on the other end to give the Lady Tigers a slight, 6-4, lead.
- The Redhawks, however, answered on the next possession and went on to score the next 11 points to go ahead, 17-6 at the end of the first quarter.
- In the second period, SEMO edged TSU 12-9 to carry a 29-15 advantage into the break.
- The third stanza saw the teams trade buckets in the opening moments before a 6-0 run by SEMO opened the score up to 39-19.
- TSU used a timeout in attempt to slow the visitors down.
- Taylor Roberts knocked down two free-throws to end TSU's scoring drought but SEMO maintained a double-digit advantage.
- Heading into the final stanza, TSU was trailing 48-29.
- TSU continued to fight and used a small spurt to pull within 15 but that would be as close as the Lady Tigers would get.
GAME NOTES
- Andreana Wrister scored in double-digits for the seventh consecutive game.
- TSU has dropped four straight to Southeast Missouri.
- Taylor Roberts played for the first time since Dec.10, 2020.
- Roberts posted double-digits for the fourth time this season.
