Lady Tigers Face Gamecocks in Home Finale

GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will play the final home game of the 2020-21 season on Saturday, Feb. 20 against Jacksonville State. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in the Gentry. The Lady Tiger seniors will be honored before the game.  
 
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
TSU is looking for its first win of the season on Saturday. The Lady Tigers are coming off a loss to Tennessee Tech on Thursday. The setback moved TSU to 0-19, 0-17 OVC. 
 
The TSU seniors have been the leaders for the squad. Andreana Wrister is turning in 14.4 ppg while Taylor Roberts averages 13.5 ppg. Jaden Wrightsell is almost averaging a double-double with 9.9 ppg and 7.2 rpg. Senior Breannah McCullah is the team's 4th leading scorer with 6.6 ppg.
 
TSU is averaging 48.9 points per game while shooting 34.1 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point range.
 
The Lady Tigers are led by first year head coach Ty Evans.
 
LAST TIME OUT
TSU dropped a, 68-52, decision to Tennessee Tech on Thursday. TSU trailed by two after the first quarter but got outscored, 20-7, in the second period. The home team continued to fight and outscored Tech in the fourth quarter but could not dig out of the hole.  Jaden Wrightsell led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 17 points while Andreana Wrister scored 16 points and Jasmine Broner pulled down a team-best five rebounds. Breannah McCullah and Andreana Wrister each dished out four assists while Wrister recorded five steals. 
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Jacksonville State (12-7, 9-6 OVC) is coming off a 54-53 loss to Belmont on Thursday. The last second loss snapped the Gamecocks' four-game winning streak. JSU is sixth in the OVC standings. 
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
TSU played hard but fell to Jacksonville State in Pete Mathews Coliseum. Offensive droughts hampered TSU and led to an early deficit. The Lady Tigers continued to fight but could not erase the JSU lead. Jaden Wrightsell led TSU and just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. TSU went 19-of-56 (33.9 percent) from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. 
 
SERIES INFORMATION
TSU and Jacksonville State will meet for the 40th time in the series history with the Gamecocks leading, 22-17. JSU has won eight straight. TSU's last win was a 64-51 victory on Jan. 21, 2017.
