Clarksville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team had a strong fourth quarter but it was not enough to overcome the deficit in a, 58-45, loss to Austin Peay, Tuesday afternoon in the Dunn Center.
TSU held Austin Peay to just two points for nearly nine minutes in the final quarter and held the Govs to three points total, outscoring APSU 13-3 in the frame.
The Lady Tigers, however, were unable to take full advantage of their defensive prowess. TSU cut the deficit to 13 points down the stretch but that as close as the team got.
Andreana Wrister led TSU with 22 points while
Breannah McCullah also reached double-digits with 12 points. Wrightsell finished the game with a team-best seven rebounds and moved into 10
thplace on TSU's all-time leading rebounders list.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first seven minutes of action saw both teams struggle with turnovers early on.
- Despite the miscues, Austin Peay managed to build a 12-7 lead at the first media timeout.
- Out of the break, another turnover, followed by an empty possession by TSU led to APSU increasing its lead to 18-7.
- Breannah McCullah ended TSU's minutes-long scoring drought but the opponent answered with its fifth triple of the game to go ahead 21-9.
- TSU trailed 21-11 at the end of the first quarter.
- In the second period, TSU outscored Austin Peay, 7-6, through the first five minutes of play.
- Austin Peay's hot three-point shooting continued though and the Govs stretched the advantage to 33-18 behind two made triples.
- TSU ended up getting outscored 18-13 in the quarter and went into halftime down, 39-24.
- It was a 16-point game when APSU went on a run to make the score, 53-30.
- TSU was outscored 16-8 in the third frame and fell behind by as many as 23 points.
