NASHVILLE --- For the second straight week, the Tennessee State softball Ohio Valley Conference series has been adjusted due to weather. The three-game set was set to begin on Friday, but has been pushed back one day due to field conditions effected by the heavy rains in the Martin, Tenn. area. The two teams will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Bettye Giles Field. The final game of the series will take place on Sunday with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.

Tennessee State last played on Friday, Mar. 12, when they closed out its OVC series with SIUE. The Tigers took one game from the Cougars to move to 1-5 in conference play. Savanah Wallace recorded the game winning RBI in the Tigers win over SIUE on Thursday evening. Trailing 5-4 in the sixth inning, the redshirt-senior notched a bases loaded two-run single to put TSU in the lead for the first time in OVC play this season. Earlier in the game, Wallace stole a base and scored the Tigers first run. The San Diego, Calif. product delivered a hit in each game against the Cougars, including a double in a two-hit performance in the opener.
Francys King registered her first collegiate win, in the Tigers first OVC victory of the season. King entered in the fourth inning with a pair of runners on in game two of the series against SIUE The true freshman would get out of the inning unscathed and held the Cougars scoreless for the next two innings, allowing the Tigers to comeback and gain the lead. King surrendered a run in her final inning of work as she finished with four innings pitched with no walks and four strikeouts. King entered the series only facing two batters in 0.3 innings pitched on the season. In the series opener, the hurler entered in the seventh inning and faced three batters. The first reached on an error before King fanned the final two batters of the game, which were the first punch outs of her collegiate career.Â
