RICHMOND, Ky. --- Tennessee State has dropped the first four games of its 12 game road trip. TSU fell 4-0 and 9-5 on Sunday afternoon at Eastern Kentucky.
The Tigers were shutout in game one and did not cross home plate in the first four innings of game two, to extend their scoreless skid to 22 frames. The stretch began with a pair of shutout losses at Belmont on Wednesday.
Trailing 8-0 after four innings in game two, the Tigers used a
Kayli Mothershed home run to extend the contest to the sixth. In that frame the Big Blue sent nine batters to the plate, including the potential game tying run.
Renae Spears and Mothershed drove in a run each with bases loaded singles while
Bri Vire earned a walk to push the third run of the inning across home plate.
The Colonels scratched a run back in the bottom of the sixth to hold a 9-4 lead heading into the final inning. TSU challenged in the seventh as they picked up a run on another RBI single by Spears.Â
EKU would close out the game stranding two Tigers on base.
In game one, TSU was held hitless until
Lauren Farias picked up a base knock with two outs in the third. The Tigers would continue to put runners on base over the final four innings, but could never advance a runner past second.

GAME 2

- Loveless sat down the first two batters in the fourth before EKU pieced together five straight hits.
- King entered and was greeted rudely by a home run, then settled into to end the frame with a strikeout.

- In the sixth inning the Big Blue sent nine batters to the plate.
- With bases loaded, Renae Spears and Mothershed generated back-to-back RBI singles.
- Two batters later, Bri Vire earned a walk to bring home another run to make the score 8-4 and bring the tying run to the plate.
- TSU left the bases juiced and found themselves down 9-4 after EKU responded with a run in their half of the inning.
