BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Kaleb Mosley was named the Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week on Sunday afternoon after his performance against Lane College yesterday.
The senior punter/kicker finished 2-of-2 on field goal attempts, including a 51-yard field goal with 14 seconds left in the game to tie the score at 20-20 to send TSU into overtime. Mosley connected on a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter and finished 3-of-3 on extra point attempts.
Mosley's 51-yard FG is a new career-long and it is also the seventh-longest field goal in the FCS this season.
Pulling double duty as the punter in addition to the placekicker, the Montgomery, Ala., native punted twice for 82 yards. He had a long punt of 43 yards and an average punt of 41.0 yards.
Mosley was called upon to replace
Antonio Zita as the placekicker, who left TSU with 241 career points. He is currently 4-of-5 on field goal attempts, three of which have come from 30-39 yards, with the fourth being the 51-yarder. Mosley leads the team with 17 points scored. He has recorded 22 punts this season for 868 yards for an average of 39.5 yards per punt, with a long of 56.
Tennessee State and Mosley will be back in action this Saturday, as they are set to host Bethune Cookman for homecoming. Kickoff from Nissan Stadium is slated for 5:00 p.m.
