Women's Basketball Looks to Even OVC Record Tomorrow Afternoon

NASHVILLE — Ohio Valley Conference play is officially underway for the Tennessee State women's basketball team, as they dropped their OVC opener to Morehead State last night 81-58 inside the Gentry Center. The Lady Tigers will look to even their OVC record tomorrow afternoon as they are set to host the league's newest member Little Rock.  

The Matchup: Tennessee State (5-7, 0-1 OVC) vs. Little Rock (4-8, 1-0 OVC)

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the second-ever meeting between Tennessee State and Little Rock, despite being just five hours away from each other. The two teams first met in December of 2002, as LR returned home with the 80-63 win in Nashville. The Trojans are in their first year playing in the OVC after transitioning from the Sun Belt.

SCOUTING LITTLE ROCK: The Trojans come into tomorrow afternoon's matchup with a 4-8 (1-0 OVC) record and are fresh off picking up their first OVC win in team history as they defeated UT Martin 45-44 on a buzzer-beater last night. Little Rock picked up a big non-conference win over Texas A&M, as well as Arkansas State and Arkansas Pine Bluff. The Trojans are averaging 47.7 points per game while giving up 58.5. As a team, LR is shooting 34.6 percent from the floor and 17.2 percent from deep. Faith Lee leads the team in scoring with 10.6 ppg, followed by Tia Harvey with 10.1.
 
WESTBROOK MAGIC: With Sierra McCullough missing the past two games, senior forward Kianni Westbrook has filled in during her absence with two starts over Wilberforce and Morehead Stat. She played a season-high 25 minutes last night after playing 24 against Wilberforce. Westbrook finished with 12 points and nine rebounds last night, while she finished with 14 points against WU. The senior shot 50 percent from the floor yesterday and 62.5 percent against WU.
 
TIGHT D: The Lady Tigers continue to pace the OVC in turnovers forced per game with 23.8. TSU was able to force 26 Morehead turnovers in the loss, with Gia Adams finishing with a season-high five steals in the contest. TSU's 23.8 forced turnovers per game are sixth-best in the NCAA D1 rankings.
