NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State men's tennis team secured their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, 4-1, over Cumberland (Tenn.) University at Hadley Park.
The Tigers dominated the singles pairings, as TSU won all four completed matches in the individual competition.
Pierre Copin was the first to finish as he owned court #3, 6-1, 6-2, over Jackson Vaughan.
On court #2,
Maksims Kazijevs was the second to finish in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, over Cumberland's German Suarez.
Diego Britt-Alvarez took care of business in straight sets, however, the Florida native had to work in the second set.
Britt-Alvarez defeated Daniel Wessels, 6-1, 7-6 (11), in a lengthy second set.
On court #1,
Nil Moinet capped off the victory for Tennessee State with a three-set victory, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, over Adrijan Hrzic in the top pairing.
In the doubles competition,
Leandros Misdrachis and
Kazijevs earned a positive outcome on court #2 with a 6-4 result. Ultimately, the Phoenix took home the doubles point with victories on courts #1 (6-2) and #3 (6-4).
