WBB Travels to Tennessee Tech and Belmont to Close Out Regular Season

NASHVILLE —The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will conclude the regular season with a pair of road games this week. The Lady Tigers will take a short trip to Tennesee Tech on Thursday and then an even shorter drive to Belmont on Saturday. 

TENNESSEE TECH SERIES INFORMATION The Lady Tigers will look for the season sweep of the Golden Eagles on Thursday in Cookeville. In the last meeting, Gia Adams sent the shot heard around the OVC with a half-court buzzer-beater. TTU leads the overall series 61-14. Prior to TSU's win in late December, Tech won the previous seven games.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Anna Jones leads the Golden Eagles in scoring with 13.5 points and rebounds at 7.2 per game. McKenzie Coleman is second in scoring at 11.7 per night.

BELMONT SERIES INFORMATION: Belmont has won the previous 12 games and holds a 98-11 all-time series lead over its crosstown rival. TSU's last victory came on Feb. 28, 2015, a 70-53 win on the road.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS: Belmont is seeking its ninth straight win when it hosts the Lady Tigers on the regular-season finale on Saturday. Destinee Wells leads the Bruins in scoring at 15.8 points per game.

ANOTHER AWARD FOR ADAMS: Gia Adams claimed her third Ohio Valley Conference Rookie of the Week Award on Tuesday morning. Adams scored a season-high 33 points against SIUE. She was just the third TSU freshman to score 30-plus points and the first one since 2012. In the game against Eastern Illinois, Adams had 24 points. She averaged 28.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals for the week.
