NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State men's tennis team suffered defeat against UT Southern on Tuesday afternoon, 1-4, at Hadley Park.
In the double's competition, on Court #3, the pairing of
Pierre Copin and
Daniel Perez-Caraballo excelled with a 6-1 result over UT Southern's Felipe Dias and Rage Matcuk. They were the first match to finish and put the pressure on the UTS. Ultimately, the Redhawks secured the doubles point behind victories on Court #1 (6-4) and #2 (6-3).
Nil Moinet earned a point in the singles portion on Court #4, with a dominating result over Shizuya Kubo, 6-0, 6-4. The straight set victory was the first for TSU this season.
The Tigers competed throughout the match as
Leandros Misdrachis and
Daniel Perez-Caraballo forced third sets on Courts #3 and #5, respectively.
Misdrachis, a senior from Greece, fell to Juan Camilo Moreno, 1-6, 6-2, 0-1 (10).
Perez-Caraballo, a freshman from Spain, did not complete his match against Martin Cabrerra, 4-6, 6-2, (UF).
Pierre Copin held a firm lead on Court #2, 7-6 (7), 4-3, prior to the Redhawks victory on Courts #1 and #6.
