Softball Falls to EIU in Weekend Finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn.. – The Tennessee State softball team dropped the final game of the weekend series against Eastern Illinois.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: EIU's Megan Burton led off the contest with a free-pass and stole second base. Hannah Cravens walked and Eastern Illinois executed a double steal to move the runners into scoring position. The Panthers grabbed the initial lead with a two out, two-run single to center field from Maddie Swart. || EIU, 2-0
 
BOT 5TH: With one out, Ryla Traylor roped a line drive double off the left field fence. Marisa Mauroschadt reached on a fielding error by the EIU first baseman. In her third at-bat of the season, Alyssi Drayton lasered an RBI single to left field to cut the deficit in half. || EIU, 2-1

INSIDE THE STATS:
  • Caitlyn Manus tossed her sixth complete game in her 12th start of the season.
  • Ryla Traylor recorded the second multi-hit game of her freshman campaign.
  • Alyssi Drayton drove in the lone run of the game for TSU.
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Traylor had been hitless over the last 10 games before today's two-hit outburst.
  • In her first start of the season, Drayton reached base in both plate appearances.
UP NEXT: Tennessee State will travel across town to Belmont University on Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week doubleheader, first pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
