NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State volleyball team received Letters of Intent from three collegiate transfers. Login Williams (Toledo, Ohio) will transition to TSU from Radford University, while Johanna Alcantara (Dominican Republic) transfers in from Lindsey Wilson College and Celestial Miller comes to Nashville from Chandler Gilbert CC.
 
Williams, a three-year member of Radford's volleyball team, joins the Tigers with two years of eligibility. In 2021, she saw action in 28 games, led the team with 520 assists (ninth in the Big South) and matched the team-best with 101 sets played. The Ohio native dished out at least 20 assists in 11 games, including a career-high 46 assists in a victory over UNC Wilmington on September 11. The 5'7" setter recorded 194 digs, ranking second on the team. Williams owns the assist record at William Amos Hough High School.
 
"I wanted a school that would push me academically and athletically – wanted an environment that feels like home away from home." Williams said, "TSU has so many accolades as far as education and athletics, after meeting the staff as well as the girls, I knew this was going to be a great fit for me."
 
Alcantara earned 2021 First Team honors in the Mid-South conference, guiding her team to a 25-7 record and a berth in the NAIA National Championships. The Dominican Republic native logged a 30.5% kill percentage in 819 attempts. She registered 4.1 points per set over 30 matches (97 sets). In addition to all-conference honors, Alcantara was named to the AVCA Southeast Region team comprised of 14 student-athletes in 10 regions. On September 13, 2021, she was named Attacker of the Week in the Mid-South.
 
"It's a great program and the people who are a part of this program are amazing, with them you can feel you are at home." Alcantara said.
 
Miller, a 5'10" outside hitter, led Chandler Gilbert CC to a regular season championship after an 18-5, 12-3 ACCAC record. A native of Chandler, Arizona, Miller steered the hometown college to 3^rd place at regionals as she earned First Team All-ACCAC, First Team All-Region, and All-Tournament Team. She ranked first in the conference with 4.9 kills per set, 402 kills and a .241 kill percentage. The 4.9 k/s ranked fifth in the nation while she ranked 6^th in the country in total kills.
 
"The communications/journalism curriculum has a great frontier, especially the partnerships with the local communities' media companies. The players and coaches have a unique family atmosphere. I wanted to attend school with a diverse student body, where being black is celebrated. I'm excited to get to work in Nashville!" Miller said.

Adding Celestial to our program, continues to reiterate our main focus of increasing ball control on all fronts for Tiger Volleyball this fall. "
