NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team dropped the OVC doubleheader against Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (Game One):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: With two outs, Haeli Bryson singled to left field. Carmen Betts blasted an opposite field, two-out, RBI double to take an early lead. ||
TTU, 1-0
TOP 2ND: Tennessee State recorded the first two outs for the second consecutive inning. TTU's Savannah Talley kept the inning alive with an infield single. The Golden Eagles rattled off three straight singles to load the bases. With the bases-juiced, Sydney Love-Baker logged an RBI on a free pass. ||
TTU, 2-0
BOT 2ND: Mikayla Duke led off the frame with a hit-by-pitch and advanced into scoring position on a stolen base.
Lauren Farias reached on a walk and moved to second on a fielder's choice. With two outs,
Ivory Jones blooped an RBI single to right field to cut the deficit in half. ||
TTU, 2-1
BOT 5TH: To lead off the inning,
Peyton Fointno singled to center field and advanced to second with a stolen base.
Ryla Traylor scorched a groundball to center and scored
Fointno from second to even the score.
Traylor advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI single from
Maggie Klug. ||
TSU, 3-2
TOP 6TH: To begin the frame, Savannah Talley advanced to third base on an error by the TSU right-fielder. In the following at-bat, TTU used a sacrifice fly to tie the ballgame. ||
TIED, 3-3
TOP 8TH: Kaylan Cole reached on a free pass to lead off extra innings and advanced to second on a groundball to first base. Cole tagged up on a fly-ball to right field and scored on an RBI single from Mackenzie Fitzgerald. ||
TTU, 4-3
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Ivory Jones matched her career-high with three hits and added an RBI.
- Four different Tigers registered multiple hits, with Jones leading the way.
- Ryla Traylor tallied two hits for the second consecutive game.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Jones logged her second RBI of the season with the second inning base knock.
- In her last nine appearances, Traylor's gone 9-for-24 (.375 batting average) with three multi-hit games.

Ryla Traylor laid down a safety squeeze and scored
Brown from third. ||

BOT 2ND: With one out,
Lauren Farias ran aggressively out of the box and recorded a double as the ball trickled into left field.
Farias stole third and scored on sacrifice fly from
Kayli Mothershed. ||
TSU, 2-0
TOP 3RD: TTU's pitcher, Haeli Bryson, walked with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit in half as they scored on a throwing error by TSU's second baseman. ||
TSU, 2-1
TOP 4TH: To begin the frame, Savannah Talley lined a double to right-center field. With two outs, Mackenzie Fitzgerald tied the game with an RBI double to left-center field. ||
TIED, 2-2
TOP 5TH: For the second straight inning, Tennessee Tech led off the inning with a double to center field. After a sacrifice bunt, Sydney Dukes scored Bryson from third. ||
