Softball to Host Belmont on Wednesday

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team will host Belmont on Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week doubleheader.
 
The Matchup: Tennessee State Tigers (12-34, 3-17 OVC) vs. Belmont Bruins (26-11, 16-4 OVC)
Date/Time: Wednesday, April 27 – 2:00pm / 4:00pm (DH)
Location: Tiger Field || Nashville, Tenn.
 
About the Tigers: Tennessee State battled against Tennessee Tech in last weekend's series, falling in two one-run games. TSU's lost 17 of the last 18 games as they look to snap an eight-game losing streak. The Tigers lost to Belmont in a doubleheader on March 29 by a combined score of 17-2.  Peyton Fointno owns the team-lead in hits (31) and RBI (17) as she's started in all 46 games. Jasmine Brown is tied for sixth in the OVC with 12 stolen bases. Anayah Baker ranks third in hits (27), while she leads TSU in triples (1) and home runs (2). Ivory Jones matched her career-high with three hits in game one against TTU.
 
About the Bruins: Belmont is currently tied for the lead in the OVC with Murray State. The Bruins have won seven straight games, averaging over seven runs per game during the win-streak. Last weekend, the OVC leaders swept Morehead State in a three-game series. Additionally, they defeated MTSU on Wednesday, leading to a four-win week. Emily Cockrill won OVC Player of the Week after batting .538 with a double, home run, five runs scored and five RBI. Cheyenne Cavanaugh leads the team in hits (50), doubles (6), walks (16) and stolen bases (27). Emma Summers is the workhorse in the circle as she's tossed 105.2 innings, logged an 11-6 record (1.99 ERA) with 112 strikeouts and 14 walks.
