NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team will host Austin Peay this weekend for a three-game set beginning on Saturday afternoon.

About the Tigers: Tennessee State dropped a mid-week doubleheader at Ole Miss on Tuesday afternoon. The Rebels showed off the SEC power with 27 runs in two games. TSU will look to snap an eight-game losing streak when they face off against APSU.
Peyton Fointno leads the team in hits (25), RBI (14) and tied for the lead in doubles (7) with
Anayah Baker.
Baker owns a team-best 10 extra-base hits, while she ranks second in RBI (11) and third in hits (19).
Jasmine Brown leads the team with 10 stolen bases in 14 attempts, ranking sixth in the OVC.
Caitlyn Manus ranks sixth in the OVC with 88 innings pitched, while
Raven Loveless ranks 10
th with 70 innings pitched. In terms of OVC rankings,
Manus is tied for fourth in appearances (22) and ranks seventh with 65 strikeouts.
About the Governors: APSU's mid-week matchup against Lipscomb was canceled due to inclement weather. The Govs took two-of-three from Tennessee Tech last weekend. In the rubber match on Sunday, Austin Peay rattled off four runs in the first inning – all with two outs. Shortstop Brooke Pfefferle logged her 200
th game for Austin Peay, the 12
th player in school history to accomplish the feat. Pfefferle and Lexi Osowski are side-by-side in school history with 106 and 105 runs scored – as Osowski is tied for fourth all-time for APSU. Osowski became the seventh player in program history to record 100 career RBIs. In 2022, Osowski leads the team in hits (48), doubles (11), home runs (9), RBI (32), walks (15) and runs scored (31). The Governors have three pitchers who have appeared in at least 18 games. Jordan Benefiel leads the way with 18 starts in the circle, owning a 3.01 ERA in 104.2 innings pitched and 10 complete games.
