NASHVILLE — Tennessee State University volleyball has added two more transfers to the 2022 roster with the addition of incoming juniors Kennedy Davis and Nicole Taylor to the roster.
Davis played her first two seasons at Western Illinois University where she recorded 307 kills, 780 attacks, and 12 assists as a middle blocker. On defense, Davis had 107 total digs, 22 solo blocks and 81 block assists in 45 matches for the Leathernecks. As a sophomore, Davis saw her statistical numbers improve as she played in 108 sets and collected 251 kills on 600 attempts. She set a season-high 20 kills in a nonconference match with Eastern Kentucky. Davis earned all-tournament honors at the Northern Illinois Invitational, IUPUI Invitational, and Eastern Kentucky Invitational.
Taylor spent her first two seasons at Seattle University after the Bowie, Maryland native made the trek to the West Coast. In 32 matches, Taylor finished with 264 kills and 682 attacks as an outside hitter. Taylor had a breakout sophomore season when she drilled 245 kills on 616 attempts for a 0.196 hitting percentage.
Taylor played club for well-renowned Metro Volleyball out of Washington, D.C. During her time with Metro, she qualified for Open Division play for four-straight years. Taylor was also a four-year letterwinner at St. John's College HS in D.C. She finished her career with 801 kills, 532 digs, 106 blocks, 144 aces and 66 assists
Davis and Taylor will join three other collegiate transfers — Celestial Miller, Logan Williams and Johanna Alcantara — along with freshman Gabby Johnson as members of the 2022 TSU squad.
