NASHVILLE — Tennessee State University volleyball senior Gina Rivera-Ortiz was named to the 2022 Preseason All-OVC Volleyball Team, as announced by the conference office. 

Rivera-Ortiz, a four-year starter at Libero, set the TSU all-time record for digs (1,692) on October 12, 2021. Last year, Rivera-Ortiz ranked second in the OVC in digs per set (5.4) and third in total digs (556). The season total, 556 digs, for Rivera-Ortiz is second-best in TSU single-season history. Her season-high came against UT-Martin (11/12), as she posted 37 digs. Rivera-Ortiz recorded at least 20 digs in 13 matches. The Lajas, Puerto Rico native logged 1,000 digs in her first two collegiate seasons.

Entering her final season at TSU, Rivera-Ortiz has 1,897 digs and is 68 away from joining the OVC's top 15 all-time record book.

TSU opens the 2022 season against the 14th-ranked Stanford on Saturday evening at the Gentry Center on ESPN+.
