NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee State volleyball team will travel to Stephenville, Texas, to play three games in the Pam Littleton Classic. On Friday, they will face HBCU foe Prairie View A&M at 2 p.m. (WAC International TV). Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season. The Tigers will turn around and take on host Tarleton State at 6 p.m. (TV ESPN Plus). TSU will finish up the classic on Saturday afternoon as they take on Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m. (WAC International TV).
The classic starts a seven-game road trip for TSU. The Tigers next home game will be against former OVC foe Belmont on September 15. SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
· The Tigers lost to the 14th-ranked Stanford Cardinal in straight sets in their season opener at Gentry Center. Newcomers,
Johanna Alcantara,
Kennedy Davis,
Gabrielle Johnson and
Celestial Miller combined for 21 kills. Graduate student
Gina Rivera-Ortiz had 14 digs to lead the team. Tiger attackers were helped by a team-high 18 assists from

· The next day, the Tigers fell to crosstown foe Lipscomb also in straight sets. Alcantara finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Tiger offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .345. TSU got 14 digs from Rivera-Ortiz to lead them defensively.
SCOUTING PVA&M
· Prairie View has seven returners from last season's team, including senior All-SWAC Second Team setter Jakarta Hope. Hope finished fifth in the conference dishing out a season career high of 575 assists.
· Kylee Owens and Leila Smalls lead PVA&M in kills this season with 37. Hope leads the team with 79 assists.
SCOUTING Tarleton State:
· Tarleton returns nine of 20 letter winners from a season ago. They replenished their roster with six freshman -- Megan Hodges, Joselyn Roberson, Emma Burke, Breanna McDonough, Isabella Martinez and Ailie Hair. They also added two D1 transfers that are poised to make an immediate impact - Jaylibeth Garcia-Rosa (Northwestern State) and Grayson Schirpik (Houston). The team is made up of nine returners and eight newcomers.
· Grayson Schirpik leads the team with 41 kills on the season followed by McDonough and Megan Haynes with 33 and 32 respectively. Hodges leads Tarleton with 76 assists followed by Melina Maldonado with 66.
SCOUTING Southeastern Louisiana:
· Southeastern leads the Southland Conference with a .248 hitting percentage, while also pacing the league with 12.57 assists and 13.64 kills per set. Cicily Hidalgo is fourth in the league with a .349 hitting percentage, as she (4.00, kills per set 3rd) and Kailin Newsome (2.92, kills per set 8th) both rank among the league's leaders in kills.
· Gracie Duplechein (5.43 assists per set) and Peyton Stokley (4.93 aps) have effectively split setting duties for the Lady Lions, while Stokley also is tops on the team with nine service aces – good for fifth in the SLC.
