BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The Ohio Valley Conference announced their players of the week for volleyball this afternoon and for the second straight week Gina Rivera-Ortiz took the defensive honors. This time she is sharing it with Irene Wogenstahl of Morehead State.

Rivera-Ortiz had another strong showing this week recording her first double-double of the year scooping up 25 digs and 10 assists against UT-Martin. In the five-set loss to SEMO on Saturday, she had 33 assists and three aces. For the season she second in the OVC in total digs (300) and digs per set (5.45). She also goes into the week leading in OVC matches in digs with 79 and digs per set at 6.58.

"Gina has been a steady force for us on the defensive end," said TSU head coach Donika Sutton. "Her leadership has kept us in games and given us a lift. This honor is once again well deserved." 
 
The Tigers will be back in action this Thursday and Friday when they take on Tennessee Tech at Kean Hall. Both matches will start at 6 p.m.
