COOKEVILLE, Tenn.— The Tennessee State University Tiger softball team (16-23-1, 7-10 OVC) will hit the road for the final time this regular season when they take on the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (5-40, 1-17 OVC). After a 4-0 start to the conference schedule, the Tigers have only won three games in their last 13 games in OVC play. They will look to right the ship against a Tech team that has struggled this year but is 2-2 in their last four games, giving five total runs.
The Tigers have dropped the last six games in the series. Their previous win was a 3-2 victory in Nashville on April 12, 2019. The last time TSU won in Cookeville was April 16, 2016.
The Tigers have enjoyed four different four-game unbeaten streaks this season. They started the season sweeping the four-game River City Classic. After tying the University of Incarnate Word on the road, they traveled to Lindenwood and swept them in a three-game series. In the next game, TSU defeated the SEMO Redhawks to start the OVC at 4-0. The victory broke a 14-game losing streak to SEMO, and it was the first home win over the Redhawks since April 3, 2005.
