Softball has Trio of Players Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team had a trio of players named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team as the organization announced the honors on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Ryla Traylor, Caitlyn Manus, and Peyton Fointno were all named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. The accolade recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and serve as top contributors to their team.
 
Ryla Traylor – Biology – 3.94 GPA
 
Ryla Traylor played and started in 45 games this season. She led the team with a .319 batting average and in hits with 46. She finished second on the squad with 25 runs, while also finishing with 22 RBI. Traylor collected nine doubles and hit two home runs. She did a nice job of getting on base as her on-base percentage of .383 led the team while tallying 69 total bases.
 
Caitlyn Manus – Psychology – 3.58 GPA
 
Caitlyn Manus led the team in almost every category in the circle as she pitched her way to a spot on the All-OVC Second team. The Murfreesboro native finished the season with a 16-14 record and a 3.81 ERA. She made 37 appearances with 26 starts to total 189.0 innings pitched. Manus had 19 complete games with three of them being shutouts. She struck out 99 batters while allowing 202 hits and 105 runs (80 earned). Opponents were batting .272 against Manus. She graduated with her bachelor's degree this spring.
 
Peyton Fointno – Computer Science – 3.73 GPA
 
Peyton Fointno was one of two players to play and start in all 49 games this season. She finished fourth on the team with 38 hits, while her 24 RBI were second on the team. Fointno crossed the plate 23 times, which was tied for the second most runs on the team. She had two five RBI games, at Tennessee Tech (4/30/23) and against Morehead (5/6/23). Fointno graduated with her bachelor's degree this spring.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6.
