NASHVILLE - Tennessee State men's basketball freshman
Jaylen Jones was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season after his performance against Lindenwood as the league announced the honors on Monday.
The Nashville native came off the bench to score 12 points in 27 minutes in the Tigers' 75-60 win over Lindenwood. Jones also collected five rebounds and two assists in the home win.
The true freshman has played in 17 games with eight starts. He is averaging 10.8 ppg, and 4.4 rebounds per outing. His 46 assists leads the team while his 19 steals is second on the squad. Saturday's 12-point performance marked his 13th double-digit scoring game of the season.
Jones and the Tigers will return to action on Thursday evening as Tennessee Tech comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
