Women's Basketball Set for First OVC Road Contest on Thursday

OPENING TIP — The Tennessee State women's basketball team will open the 2024 calendar year with a two-game road trip to kick off the second week of OVC play, beginning with Southern Indiana on Thursday in Evansville.

The Matchup: Tennessee State (4-8, 1-1 OVC) vs. Southern Indiana (7-5, 2-0 OVC)

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be just the third-ever matchup between the Lady Tigers and the Screaming Eagles. The two schools first met last season, playing both matchups in February, with each team winning on each other's court. TSU won the first game 59-55 in Evansville, while USI claimed a 67-61 victory in Nashville. 

3: The number of players that now have 100+ points or more this season. Caitlin Anderson and Zyion Shannon became the second and third Lady Tigers to reach the 100-point scoring mark this season joining Sanaa' St. Andre after the win over Little Rock. Anderson finished with 17, while Shannon scored 12 in the win. 
 
49 PERCENT: The Tigers finished a season-best shooting percentage of 49.1 percent in the win over Little Rock. TSU was 28-of-57 from the field.
 
SEASON BEST: Graduate transfer point guard Caitlin Anderson posted two season-highs in the win over Little Rock. Anderson tallied a season-high 17 points, while also logging a season-high six assists. The Missouri native is averaging 9.0 ppg and has finished in double-figures six times this season.
 
HOME COOKIN': Sanaa' St. Andre logged her third straight double-digit scoring game at home in the win over Little Rock. The Kansas City transfer finished with 15 points against the Trojans while finishing with 17 two nights prior against UT Martin. St. Andre's first game dates to UT Southern before Christmas break as she tallied 10 points. She is averaging 12.0 ppg inside the Gentry Center.
