LAKE CHARLES, La. - Sophomore Onnika Spencer went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI for Tennessee State in a 7-1 loss to Lamar on Sunday. It was the final game of the Cowgirl Classic for the Tigers.
Sophomore Holly Ayala (0-0) started and took the loss in the circle for Tennessee State (1-4).
In the batter's box, the Tigers were paced by Spencer, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Laila Armstrong and Peyton Fointno were the other two TSU players to pick up hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Spencer put Tennessee State on the board with a two-out solo home run off for her first of the season. The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as Lamar added five runs to their tally on the way to a 7-1 final.
