Women's Basketball Looks to Stay Hot at Home

OPENING TIP — The Tennessee State women's basketball team will continue its final three-game home stand inside the Gentry Center with game two against Eastern Illinois on Thursday evening. The Tigers have won three straight at home after taking down Morehead, Southern Indiana, and Western Illinois.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 53rd all-time matchup between TSU and EIU with EIU leading the series 36-16. The Panthers have won eight straight regular season games against TSU after picking up a 71-67 OT victory earlier this season. Sanaa' St. Andre led the Tigers with 18 points in that outing.
 
WIU NUMBERS AND NOTES
 
22.5: The number of points that Zyion Shannon averaged over two games last week. Shannon finished with 19 on the road at Tennessee Tech, followed by a 26-point outing at home versus Western Illinois. Saturday's game marked her 8th straight double-digit scoring contest. The sophomore is averaging 11.4 points per game.
 
167: The number of combined minutes that the starters played against EIU. Four of TSU's starters played 30+ minutes, with three of them playing 35+ minutes. Saniah Parker led the team with 38 minutes followed by Sanaa' St. Andre with 37.
 
SISTERLY LOVE: All five of TSU's starters finished in double-figures against WIU. Zyion Shannon led the team with 26 points, followed by Lyric Cole and Eboni Williams who had 14 a piece. Sanaa' St. Andre finished with 12 points while Saniah Parker chipped in 11.   
 
COLE WORLD: Lyric Cole logged her third double-double of the season after finishing with 14 points and 11 boards against WIU. She had a nice afternoon from the floor as she finished 6-of-9 to finish tied for second in points in the contest. Cole's 11 rebounds put her past the century mark this season as she now has 105 boards.
