Volleyball Falls to Lions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State showed flashes of energy throughout the night but couldn't overcome a steady Lindenwood offense, falling in three sets (22-25, 16-25, 14-25) on Friday evening inside Kean Hall.

The Tigers (1-20, 0-8 OVC) kept pace early behind a balanced attack from their front line. Sophomore Melae Lacy led the charge with seven kills on a .263 hitting percentage, keeping TSU within striking distance in the opening frame.

Freshman Eirini Bitsaktsi anchored the back row with a team-high eight digs, continuing her steady defensive play, while senior setter Sagaia Reilly tallied 12 assists and added two service aces to spark the Tigers' offense.

Tennessee State traded points with Lindenwood early, tying the first set five times before the Lions gained the upper hand at 9-8. The Tigers continued to show grit throughout the match, but the Lions' consistency at the net made the difference down the stretch.

Head coach Donika Sutton's squad will look to close out Homecoming weekend on a high note when the Tigers and Lions meet again Saturday at noon inside Kean Hall.
