NASHVILLE — Tennessee State redshirt sophomore Mark Shenouda has been named the OVC-Big South Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Shenouda delivered a record-setting performance in Saturday's game at UT Martin, tying the OVC-Big South single-game record and setting a new conference-game record with an 82-yard punt, the longest in Tennessee State history.

The Mt. Juliet, Tennessee native was outstanding throughout the contest, averaging 49.0 yards on seven punts, with four punts traveling 50 yards or longer. He also placed one punt inside the 20-yard line and had no touchbacks. Shenouda handled kickoff duties following a safety, booting the ball 66 yards downfield.

Through nine games this season, Shenouda ranks among the nation's best, averaging 43.7 yards per punt, which stands second in the OVC-Big South Association and 23rd nationally.

Shenouda has totaled 2,461 yards on 57 punts this season, with 11 punts of 50+ yards and 14 downed inside the 20-yard line.

This marks the first weekly honor of Shenouda's career.
