FORT WORTH – Tennessee State women's basketball hits the road for game one of its Texas trip, taking on TCU Wednesday night inside Schollmaier Arena. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. as the Lady Tigers open a two-game swing through the Lone Star State.

Tennessee State (0-2) enters the matchup looking to build on a strong offensive showing in its home opener against Wright State. The Lady Tigers battled in an 85-80 shootout on Friday night, featuring four players in double figures. Xai'Onna Whitfield led TSU with 18 points and six rebounds, while Erin Martin posted her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 boards. Somah Kamara added 12 points and Aaniya Webb contributed 10 as Tennessee State shot 46 percent from the floor and turned 14 forced turnovers into 17 points.

Through two games, Whitfield, Martin, and Webb have paced the offense for a young TSU team showing early-season growth under second-year head coach Candice Dupree. The Lady Tigers have controlled the boards in both outings, ranking among OVC leaders in offensive rebounds and blocks per game.

TCU (1-0) opened its season with a 72-49 victory over Texas State. The Horned Frogs, led by head coach Mark Campbell, are anchored by standout forwards Sedona Prince and Madison Conner, who combined for 37 points in the opener. TCU's size, experience, and pace present a new challenge as TSU faces its first Power Five opponent of the year.

Wednesday's contest marks the first-ever meeting between Tennessee State and TCU. The trip continues Friday when the Lady Tigers visit UT Arlington to close their Texas road swing.
