Softball Drops Pair at SIUE on Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — The Tennessee State softball team dropped both games to SIUE 8-0 and 10-0 on Saturday afternoon. 

GAME 1 | SIU-Edwardsville 8, Tennessee State 0

The Tigers were not able to score a run against SIUE pitcher freshman Avery Arwood on Saturday and were shut out 8-0 by the Cougars.

Reina Castillo (14-4) got the ball to start for Tennessee State (20-11, 10-5 OVC) and took the loss.

At the plate, the Tigers were led by Anayah Baker-Rowell, who went 1-for-2 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tennessee State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Tigers went 0-for-0 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fifth, when Baker-Rowell made it into scoring position with nobody out.

GAME NOTES

» Tennessee State pitchers faced 25 SIU-Edwardsville hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and five fly balls while striking out one.
» Baker-Rowell led the Tigers at the plate, going 1-for-2.

The Tigers were not able to record a run against SIUE pitcher freshman McKayla Anderson on Saturday and were shut out 10-0 by the Cougars.

Tianna Salcido (4-5) got the ball to start for Tennessee State (20-12, 10-6 OVC) and took the loss.

At the plate, the Tigers were led by Jace Jackson, who went 1-for-2 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tennessee State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. The Tigers last got a runner on third in the fourth, when Jackson made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
