Softball Falls in 5 Innings at Western Illinois

MACOMB, IL -- Tennessee State softball snapped an eight-game winnings streak with a 15-7 loss to close out the season series with Western Illinois on Monday. 

At the plate, the Tigers were paced by Spencer, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Duke put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Jean-Baptist also chipped in for Tennessee State, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding two walks and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Tennessee State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Jean-Baptist.

The Leathernecks then rallied to score 10 runs and take a 10-4 lead before the Tigers got back on the board in the third. Tennessee State managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 10-6 in favor of the Leathernecks.

Tennessee State held the Leathernecks off the board before narrowing the gap to 10-7 in the fourth. The Tigers notched a run when drew a walk from junior K. McChristy that scored . The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as Western Illinois added five runs to their tally on the way to a 15-7 final.
