NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee State softball team heads north this weekend for its final Ohio Valley Conference road series of the regular season, traveling to Charleston, Illinois, to face Eastern Illinois in a three-game set beginning Friday afternoon.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Building Momentum
The Tigers enter the weekend continuing to show offensive growth and competitive energy as the season moves toward postseason play. Tennessee State has produced improved at-bats throughout recent conference action, generating consistent scoring opportunities while receiving contributions across the lineup.
TSU's offense has been fueled by timely hitting and aggressive base-running, while the pitching staff continues to log valuable innings against conference opponents. The series provides another opportunity for the Tigers to translate recent progress into results as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Series History vs. Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois holds a 34-7 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2008, including victories in the most recent meetings during the 2025 season in Nashville.
Despite the overall record, several recent matchups have been tightly contested. Tennessee State earned a 5-1 road victory in Charleston during the 2024 season and claimed its last series win over the Panthers during the 2021 campaign. Multiple recent contests have been decided by a single run, highlighting the competitive nature of the matchup.
The Tigers will look to snap a five-game skid against EIU and secure momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.
