Morehead, Ky.
--- In a game that ended early due to the inclement weather, the Tennessee State University softball team dropped a 2-0
decision to Morehead
State on Friday afternoon
at University field.
In the top of the seventh with one out and TSU trailing 2-0,
heavy rain, thunder and violent lightening hit the Morehead area. After a
30-minute delay and no end in sight for the inclement weather, the game was
determined “official.”
Tennessee State fell to 16-19 (7-8 OVC) while Morehead State
improved to 22-14 (6-7 OVC).
The Morehead
State bats came alive
early as the Eagles used three hits to capture a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the
first.
Adversely, the Tiger offense struggled as TSU only managed to
tally one hit in the game. The Tigers got their first hit of the game when
Christy Hill singled to first base in the top of the sixth. The Tigers,
however, were not able to capitalize on the hit and failed score in the inning.
A solo homerun to center field upped MSU's advantage to 2-0
in the bottom of the sixth before the rain delay and eventual end of the game
occurred.
Caitlin Eaton (10-8) was charged with the loss while Christy
Hill recorded TSU's only hit of the game.
TSU and MSU will finish the series tomorrow with the
doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. EST.
